Grammarians and Lions Hawks practically wrapped up the 2008/09 GHA Hambros League Championships unless a miracle occurs in the next two rounds of their respective championships.
It is also the same with Lions Pirates in the men’s 2nd division following the leader’s three consecutive wins against Grammarians Res (twice) and Eagles Res.
Pirates lead the table 6 points clear from Grammarians who managed a 4-2 win over Eagles.

In the 1st division Grammarians lead the table 6 points clear from immediate rivals Eagles, who they have defeated twice. In the opening match of the championship, Grammarians enjoyed the spoils of a 6-3 success. But a week ago last Saturday they managed victory by a close 3-2 score. Could it be that Eagles have improved? If that is the case, we could be in for two very exciting matches when these two meet. However, both have to play Gib Ht and although they have their previous encounters one can not tell how the underdogs can react on a good day.

The women’s championship, a two team affair sees Lions Hawks having the edge over arch rivals Eagles.
A devastating 5-0 success story for Eagles in the GHA League Cup Final seems to have turned sour in the League championship, Both teams have played each other twice and Hawks have not only outplayed their opponents on both occasions but also beaten them 3-1 and 1-0. Good enough to see them leading the table. Both teams next play each other on the 15th March next in what be Lions Hawk’s chance to claim a championship that has eluded them for several seasons.
To make the championship more interesting a second Lions Hawks team and a boys under 16, Barclays Wealth form part of the competition. Though none of their results count when it comes to the table.
